Walk with Me

Walk with Me

Autor: Bill Mowry

Número de Páginas: 148

Have we over complicated, over systematized, and over formalized making disciples? When our hearts are changed by Christ, it’s natural that we should want to help others come to know Him too. And while Scripture clearly sets forth how to do so, modern Western society has formalized, professionalized, and systemized disciplemaking to a point that it seems too complicated to practice. What happened to the simple, heart-to-heart ministries of the New Testament? In Walk with Me, you’ll return to the essential biblical practices that help people grow as Christ-followers in simple, slow, and deep ways. Learn how you can connect with your neighbors, coworkers, or anyone you want to reach with the gospel in ways that are relational and Spirit-led. You’ll learn five kingdom principles that will reshape how you can pass on the faith: In heart-to-heart ways By keeping it simple By going slow By building deep By living on mission

Los caminos del acompañante

Los caminos del acompañante

Autor: Bill Mowry , Tyndale

The Ways of the Alongsider

The Ways of the Alongsider

Autor: Bill Mowry

Número de Páginas: 193

Disciple-making can be intimidating. You might think that someone who makes disciples has to be a teacher, a missionary, or someone who is seminary trained. Would it surprise you to know that disciple-making is just a lifestyle in which you offer people love, comfort, and encouragement where they live, work, and play? Despite our weaknesses and fears, Jesus invites us to participate in the Great Commission by helping people live for Christ in the here and now. All you have to do is live intentionally, love God, and journey alongside others—life to life. This ten-week Bible study with discussion questions spells out the “how” of making disciples through an alongsider approach to life. Discover and apply the practices of an alongsider, such as reading the Bible with others, asking questions, telling stories, encouraging application, and living on mission. The Ways of the Alongsider can be used with small groups, in a class setting, or in a one-to-one discipling relationship.

Bluff City Pawn

Bluff City Pawn

Autor: Stephen Schottenfeld

Número de Páginas: 305

Huddy Marr, the proprietor of Bluff City Pawn shop in Memphis, is good at what he does: he knows jewelry, he knows guns and guitars. But the neighborhood is changing: A blood bank is set to open across the street from the retail space he leases from his brother Joe, and Huddy wants to move to a less seedy part of town. A pawn shop should stay right on the edge of seedy. When a longtime client dies, his widow calls Huddy to come appraise his considerable gun collection. If he can buy up the guns, Huddy knows he can make a killing, possibly change his fortunes for good. But he needs cash up front, and for that he needs Joe. Soon the restless youngest, Harlan, is also involved-they could use the manpower to move the haul-and slowly the brothers' old family dynamics reassert themselves. There is trouble inherent in these wares. There is trouble inherent in this family. And there is something inherent to Memphis . . . something that means a change of fortune can't come easy. Stephen Schottenfeld's first novel is a masterful depiction of a city, a business, and a family. It is an investigation of class and law, ownership and value, loyalty, betrayal, and blood; one that gathers power...

Rock Creek Unincorporated

Rock Creek Unincorporated

Autor: David Dee Cantley

Número de Páginas: 297

When David Cantley asked me to write about him for the autobiography on which he was working, it took me about three seconds to say, “Yes.” I consider him to be one of the most extraordinary people I have ever met and felt honored to be able to share my thoughts with others. In The History of Lake Worth High School, I wrote this about his two decades as principal, “Without his guidance, the school might very well have been shut down.” I believed that strongly then, and I still believe it as strongly today. In May of 1980, Cantley became Lake Worth High’s fifth principal during the 1979-80 school year. He took charge of a school that had deteriorated tremendously in the quarter-century since my class had graduated. The campus was overcrowded, and plagued with disorder. White students were fleeing, and academics were lagging. The first thing he did was restore discipline. After that, he instituted magnet programs to arrest the white flight. Finally, he spearheaded efforts to get the campus rebuilt and enlarged. By the time he retired in 1999, the school was a model for how things should be done in secondary education. Along the way, he worked to help the less fortunate...

The Foundation of a Disciplemaking Culture

The Foundation of a Disciplemaking Culture

Autor: Justin G Gravitt

Número de Páginas: 159

Why do churches need a disciplemaking culture? At the end of his earthly ministry, Jesus commissioned his followers to embrace a way of life making disciples. He extends that mission to us--a way of life rooted in relationship, focused on mutual growth, intentionality, and transformation as we follow Jesus together. Sadly, the activities and events that dominate many churches too often become an end in themselves and actually distract from discipleship. The Great Commission drifts out of focus of the whole church and becomes outsourced to a spiritual elite. Justin Gravitt wrote The Foundation of a Disciplemaking Culture to help you lay the groundwork for a disciplemaking movement in your church. In this powerful, to-the-point resource, you will learn how to: identify and train other disciplemakers who share your passion and vision build shared ownership and excitement for making disciples who make disciples maintain momentum that spreads from your core team into the community re-vision your church culture around the gospel priority of disciplemaking. A culture of disciplemaking is built and supported by a disciplemaking foundation. This book will equip you with the tools and...

Parallel Faith

Parallel Faith

Autor: Dave Boden

Número de Páginas: 193

Are you ready to discover how to walk alongside others on their journey to Christ? Learn how to walk parallel with others with purpose and help them discover Jesus from their starting point, not yours. Everyone takes little steps toward Jesus before they can take big steps with and for him. This is a process that starts long before people ever enter a church building, especially as the gap between the church and culture grows ever wider. This book will help equip you to handle the early stages of discipling others with care, address the stumbling blocks that hold them back, as well as redefine how you see your own identity as an ambassador of Christ. You will learn how to be better prepared to answer questions about your faith and how to share the gospel in a way that resonates with other people and their culture. There are many ways we can walk with others and point them to Jesus: We can use our creativity to create curiosity, and hospitality can mean so much more than a warm welcome. If we teach like Jesus, then we will use everyday moments to impart Scripture, share stories, and offer next steps to those with whom we’re walking alongside.

The 9 Arts of Spiritual Conversations

Autor: Mary Schaller , John Crilly

Número de Páginas: 281

Love God, love people. Could evangelism really be that simple? Often, it doesn’t seem so. It can feel scary, awkward, and uncomfortable as we try to navigate loaded questions and different perspectives. Even the most faithful of believers sometimes get stumped. But can you imagine if we, as Christians, simply spent time with people who are far from God and provided a safe place to talk about spiritual matters? If we listened to them and discovered what was really important to them? After all . . . it’s what Jesus did. And it’s what you can do too. Drawing straight from the life and ministry of Jesus, The 9 Arts of Spiritual Conversations offers simple practices to help you build relationships with people who believe differently. Anyone who has read and appreciated Becoming a Contagious Christian or Just Walk across the Room won’t want to miss this book on creating a safe space to have natural, loving, and spiritual conversations with others.
