El objetivo central de este estudio es describir los diferentes perfiles de las mujeres extranjeras que realizan la prostitución en Madrid en forma callejera, así como las necesidades y dificultades de su inserción sociolaboral.
Globalizada y controlada por el crimen organizado, la prostitución se ha convertido en un mercado económico próspero, que se cifra en millo de dólares. El informe anual de la Fundación Scelles "Explotación sexual: prostitución y crimen organizado", hace un balance de la prostitución en 54 países, afirma que los proxenetas se han organizado en base a "un modelo capitalista ejemplar", que les supone beneficios que se elevan a miles de millones de dólares.
