The Best Fruit

The Best Fruit

Autor: Jacquelyn M. Ragin

Número de Páginas: 82

The Best Fruit is about how high emotional intelligence augments what the Christian Bible calls the fruit of the spirit. The goal of this book is to highlight how increasing one's emotional intelligence actually augments the work of God in the individual. The author emphasizes character traits and mental habits that can lead to successful living, greater leadership ability, and relationship building as they relate to the fruit of the spirit. Christians believe that God, the Holy Spirit, is at work to cultivate behavior and characteristics that are pleasing to God and that add not only to the individual's quality of life but to their community engagement. The text gives several examples, from the author's life experience, from history, and from the Bible, of how emotions can highjack a person's cognitive ability. Yet this book also extolls the virtues of high emotional intelligence and gives examples of its effect on a person's ability to successfully navigate life's challenges. The author concludes with suggestions and resources to start increasing emotional intelligence.

The Art of Singing

The Art of Singing

Autor: Mihaela Buhaiciuc

Número de Páginas: 121

In teaching one the art of singing, the constant emphasis on good breath, phrasing and enunciation, tone and poise, text and character becomes, although probably not intended, a rigid mental processing for both student and mentor. Studies autonomously without filtering through the emotional self, the mental act will not rise to true feeling and original art. The mental component fits into a greater dynamic configuration in order to define interpretation, communication, and artistic beauty in singing. The Art of Singing. The Science of Emotions is a voyage still in progress. Tentatively engraved in this volume, the first impressions after eighteen-year search of artistic truth are collected as a compendium of thoughts and excitements with elucidations on both rational and emotional landscapes. The book traces concepts of science, art, spirituality, and philosophy mirrored in the ideal performing the self through singing.

The Leadership Capital Index

The Leadership Capital Index

Autor: Dave Ulrich

Número de Páginas: 277

When it comes to evaluating a firm, leadership matters. We know that financial outcomes can predict about 50 percent of a firm's market value. Intangibles like strategy, brand, talent, R&D, innovation, risk, and so on account for the rest. But leadership underlies them all. And despite how important we know it is, we've been forced to rely on subjective and unreliable ways to measure its impact—until now. In this landmark book, leadership scholar, author, and consultant Dave Ulrich proposes a “leadership capital index”—a Moody's or Standard and Poor's rating for leadership. Drawing on research from investors and business leaders, and synthesizing the work of dozens of consulting firms and leadership experts, Ulrich analyzes two broad domains, each comprising five factors. The individual domain includes personal qualities, strategic prowess, execution proficiency, interpersonal skills, and fit between the leader's style and the organization's market promises. The organizational domain encompasses a leader's ability to create customer-focused cultures, manage talent, demand accountability, use information to gain competitive advantage, and set up work processes to deal with...
