La Medicina Oncologica : Diagnosi, Terapia e gestione clinica

La Medicina Oncologica : Diagnosi, Terapia e gestione clinica

Autor: Stefano Cascinu , Roberto Labianca

Encyclopedia of Cancer

Encyclopedia of Cancer

Autor: Manfred Schwab

Número de Páginas: 4071

The merging of different basic and clinical science disciplines towards the common goal of fighting against cancer has long ago called for the establishment of a comprehensive reference source both as a tool to close the language gap between clinical and basic science investigators and as a platform of information for students and informed laymen alike. The Encyclopedia of Cancer provides rapid access to focused information on all topics of cancer research for clinicians, research scientists and advanced students. Given the overwhelming success of the Second Edition, which appeared in 2009, and fast recent development in the different fields of cancer research, it has been decided to publish a third fully revised and expanded edition, following the principal concept of the first edition that has proven so successful. Recent developments are seeing a dynamic progress in basic and clinical cancer science, with translational research increasingly becoming a new paradigm in cancer research. In particular, new approaches to both Personalized Cancer Medicine and Targeted Therapies have made promising progress. While the Second Edition featured scholarly contributions from approximately...

Lung Cancer

Lung Cancer

Autor: Barbara Driscoll

Número de Páginas: 805

This work, Lung Cancer, Volume 2: Diagnostic and Therapeutic Methods and Reviews, in the Methods in Molecular Medicine series presents an overview of the current status of those methods useful in the diagnosis and tre- ment of lung cancer—both as it exists in the clinic and as it is being revoluti- ized in the laboratory. The book is intended to serve as a resource for researchers wishing to increase their knowledge of current and cutting edge technologies, in order that their investigations into neoplasms of the lung may benefit from this enriched diversity of techniques and approaches. Owing to the complex nature of the disease and the variety of methods available to analyze and attack it, no volume attempting to define diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to lung cancer can ever be complete. The sheer number of investigators involved in lung cancer research guarantees that some aspect will be inadvertently excluded. However, I hope that the range of techniques included herein will serve to open up new avenues of investigation for both the novice and experienced researcher.

Macromolecular Anticancer Therapeutics

Macromolecular Anticancer Therapeutics

Autor: L. Harivardhan Reddy , Patrick Couvreur

Número de Páginas: 627

In spite of the development of various anticancer drugs, the therapy of cancer has remained challenging for decades. The current therapy of cancer is overwhelmed because of the inability to deliver therapeutics to all regions of a tumor in effective therapeutic concentrations, intrinsic or acquired resistance to the treatment with currently available agents via genetic and epigenetic mechanisms, and toxicity. As a result, cancer therapy using conventional therapeutics and different types of treatment regimens using this therapeutics has not led to a convincing survival benefit of the patients. In this context, Macromolecular therapeutics offer several advantages over conventional low molecular therapeutics by various ways such as, enable the use of larger doses of these agents by limiting the toxicity, by enhanced permeability and retention into tumors, by tumor targeting using tumor-specific antibodies, by specific inhibition of oncogenes using anticancer oligonucleotides etc. Cancer treatment using this macromolecular therapeutics has considerably improved the survival benefit for patients. As a result, various macromolecular therapeutics are already commercialized or are under...
