Jacob Lemasters was born on a farm near Port Jefferson in Salem Township, Shelby county, Ohio, on 16 April 1845. He was the seventh of eleven children born to Luman Walker Lemasters, Sr. and Nancy Young. Sarah Ann Halfhill was born in Ohio 26 November 1844. Jacob and Sarah Ann were married in Indiana 26 December 1866. They were the parents of eleven children. In March 1883, when their oldest child Hubert was sixteen, the family moved to Valley County, Nebraska. Includes descendants in Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Montana, and elsewhere.

Johan Jacob Folk was born 12 July 1724 in Germany. His parents were Jakob Volk (1682-1732) and Johanna Mayer (1686-1741). He emigrated in 1737 and settled in Pennsylvania. He moved to South Carolina in 1740. He married Pomona Coon and they had two sons. He married Catherine Epting and they had five children. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Germany and South Carolina.
