The Plague Dogs

The Plague Dogs

Autor: Richard Adams

Número de Páginas: 416

This modern-day classic is an unforgettable tale of fantasy and adventure, a powerful exploration of the limits of human cruelty and kindness. A “gripping ... compelling tale of emotional force and high suspense” (The Wall Street Journal). Rowf, a shaggy black mongrel, and Snitter, a black-and-white fox terrier, are among dozens of animals being cruelly held in a testing facility in North West England. When one of the handlers fails to close Rowf’s cage properly, the two dogs make a daring escape into the English countryside, where they befriend a red fox who helps them survive in the wild. But as rumors circulate that the dogs may have been the test subjects for biological weapons and could be carrying a terrible plague, they soon find themselves targets of a great dog hunt. Local farmers, politicians, scientists, and even the military join in the search to track them down.

Mad Dogs

Autor: Don Finley

Número de Páginas: 215

Rabies, one of humanity's most ancient & feared diseases, has recently swept through dogs in TX & through raccoons from FL to NY. The U.S. seems helpless to resolve them -- despite the fact that Europe & Canada have mounted successful & ongoing oral rabies vaccination programs. Written in 1998, this book discusses the controversy over who will pay for a fed. approved vaccine, since the U.S. considers rabies a local health problem, though the virus knows no state lines or international bound. It chronicles the epidemic, the politics of response to it, & the most ambitious Amer. attempt to erect a barrier against the disease -- the dropping of an experimental, genetically engineered vaccine over nearly 15,000 sq. mi. of S. Texas brushlands in 1995. Illus.

He becomes comfortable with his new home, gets food and drink from the building's cantina, and makes friends with the dogs held captive in cages. Several weeks later he decides to leave the installation but rescues his favorite healthy dog, a monkey, and six sick dogs. They wander the mountainous area and camp out at night. After the animals disappear, the scientists learn that two genetically engineered microorganisms were injected into six of the missing dogs and after a while the formulas begin reacting to each other and mutating. They learn that the evolving microorganisms do not stabilize and six of the escaped dogs will become carriers of a deadly pneumonic form of anthrax plague. All of the animals love Eric and he gives each of them a name. After a while, the sick dogs appear to be healthy again. Shep and Reds leave Eric's group. La imaginación tangible. Una historia esencial del cine de animación

Autor: Jordi Sánchez-navarro

Autor: Maximiliano Fuentes Codera

Excerpt from The Dog in Health and Disease: Comprising the Various Modes of Breaking and Using Him for Hunting, Coursing, Shooting, Etc;, And Including the Points or Characteristics of All Dogs, Which Are Entirely Rewritten It is true that the hound and the greyhound, the pointer and the setter, as well as many of the foreign varieties of the dog, have been favoured with special treatises, but beyond them the ground is almost untrodden, or else it is choked with weeds and rubbish which render it difficult to ascertain what is beneath them. Circle Of Darkness

Circle Of Darkness

Autor: Lindsey M. Mcguire

Número de Páginas: 408

From the beginning of time there have been stories about the existence of other worlds. Most believed that in such a vast universe Earth could not be the only inhabited planed. Perhaps there are other species akin to our own speculating on exactly the same theory of existence? There is a book of unknown origin older than any existing manuscript know to man and because of its uniqueness is heavily guarded. It is The Ancient Troneica with protectors known as High Lords from the Temple of Tekret. We will soon discover that we are not alone. Earth is one of seven plains that exist in our dimension. Under constant threat from an unimaginable evil that possibility has now become a reality. The battle will be fought in the shadows of San Francisco where the book has been located. The Darkness wants unity, pursuing its opponents relentlessly and without mercy to fulfill the Circle. The heavy burden of succumbing to a nightmare and surviving rests on the shoulders of Jason King and Lucy White. This is a journey of discovery and terror leading them towards a destiny that could take their very souls.
